Chiang Rai

This city is the capital of the province of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand and is located about 785 kilometers from Bangkok or 180 kilometers from Chiang Mai. Things to see

Visit the Rai Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park which is located in the Pa Ngiw Village or about five kilometers from the city center. There are a lot of cultural objects which you can see here. Spare your time for a moment at Wat Rong Khun where there are large murals of the Buddha in different movements. And many more shrines or temples that you can visit in this city, including the Wat Klong Wiang, Wat Ming Meuang and Wat Phra Kaeo. Visit the Phucheefah, a mountain that lies on the eastern edge of Thoeng District, Chiang Rai, where you can see an amazing view of the sunset here. You can also see the Lychee Fair held in mid-May each year. This event is one of the annual festivals held in the city where you can see the float competitions, beauty pageants and variety of product offered in the local stadium of Chiang Rai Province.

Visit Boomerang Park, this place is the park for you who like rock climbing hobby. Or for those who go vacation with your family then spare your time to visit Baan Ruamit where you can ride an elephant here. This place is located about 30 minutes' drive from downtown of Chiang Rai. In addition, there are also Kun Korn waterfall located about fifteen kilometers to the south of the city center. In this place you can aim the camera to capture the captivating natural beauty. As for you golf lovers, you can visit Santiburi located about ten kilometers to the east of the city center or visit Waterford Valley located approximately 35 kilometers to the northeast of the city center.

There are many foods that you can taste in this city. One popular food is the Chicken Khao Soi, noodles with extra sliced chicken served with coconut milk or curry. Taste also the Nam Tok, a meat salad from Thailand where the meat is cut lengthwise but not chopped. In addition, another scrumptious food is Suea Rong Hai, a food that has roasted beef as the main ingredient and served with white rice.
