Singapore Botanic Gardens

Singapore Botanical Gardens (Kebun Botani Singapura) is a landscape tropical forest of 74 ha in the middle of the city which offers a respite from the busy urban life as well as a place for outdoor music concerts. On weekends the Singapore Symphony Orchestra has free concerts near the Symphony Lake. Admission to the Singapore Botanic Garden is free and it is open from 5am till midnight every day of the year.

At the Botanical gardens you can enjoy the scenery and lush green trees. There are three lakes, the Symphony lake, Eco lake and the Swan lake.

In the park you can also find the National Orchid Garden which is the world's largest orchid garden with a collection of 60,000 plants and orchids. For this you have to pay though: price of admission to the Orchids Garden is SGD 5, for visitors over 60 years SGD 1, while children are free.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Next to the park entrance are a lot of souvenir shops that sell souvenirs typical of Singapore, among others, The Library Shop and Garden Shop. At the Au Jardin or Halia you can buy food and drinks while The Jacob Ball is an area for kids to learn about plant life. This place is perfect for picnics with the family, but it is recommended to get here early in the morning because the air is still fresh. In the evening many people use this area for jogging and walking around. .

Singapore Botanic Gardens is located in Cluny Road 1, next to the Gleneagles Hospital. On 8 oktober 2011 the Botanic Gardens MRT station (CC19/DT9) will be opened on the Circle Line which will greatly simplify visiting the Gardens.
