Measles alert after passenger falls ill on Air Asia flight to Melbourne

A passenger on an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne has been diagnosed with measles, sparking an alert for other passengers on the plane and anyone who was at Melbourne Airport around the international baggage area.


An Australian man in his 40s became unwell on the flight and went straight to hospital where the diagnosis was confirmed.


The flight, AirAsia D7241, arrived at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday at 9:30am.


Victoria's deputy chief health officer, Brett Sutton, said they were working with the airline to identify and contact passengers on the flight.
