IED found near Sri Lanka’s main airport hours after Easter attacks

A “homemade” pipe bomb — measuring six feet in length — was found late Sunday near Sri Lanka’s main airport hours after the deadly Easter attacks.


The improvised explosive device was successfully defused by local authorities, according to the Agence France Presse.


“It was a crude six-foot pipe bomb that was found by the roadside,” an air force spokesman said. “We have removed it and safely defused it at an air force location.”
