Batavia Air declared bankrupt on 30 Jan 2013. The airlines ceased all operations at midnight the same day. It is yet unclear if passengers who bought tickets for upcoming flights can get their money back.
Batavia Air was established in 2001 and started operations in January 2002 with one Fokker F28 and two Boeing 737-200. The first route it opened was Jakarta to Pontianak. Since then Batavia Air has extended operations to 40 destinations inside Indonesia and 5 internationally.
There were quite some safety issues with Batavia but since June 2010 the airline has been taken off the list of banned carriers from flying into EU airspace.
On 20th October 2010 Batavia Air successfully held its initial flight to Tanjung Pinang, the capital of Riau Islands Province. With this new route opened, Batavia Air officially launched its daily flight from Jakarta – Tanjung pinang.
Each passenger can bring into the cabbin one standard bag with a maximum weight of 7 kg.
The maximum weight for checked baggage is 20 kg. You can check-in multiple bags but the combined weight may not exceed 20 kg.

Change of the passenger name on the ticket is not allowed. A flight schedule change is possible, go to one of the Batavia offices to arrange this.
You can book Batavia air tickets on their website from outside Indonesia by paying the ticket with Paypal. Do this in advance because online bookings can only be made 48 hours before departure time.
