From the birth of Space Invaders and Donkey Kong, to Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros., Japan's All Nippon Airways has launched an interactive website that chronicles Japan's rich gaming history -- in video game format, no less.

To pay tribute to Japan's 40-year gaming heritage and respond to the growing rise of gaming tourism in Japan, ANA has created an innovative video game in website format that takes players through four decades of gaming history in Japan.

As players collect coins, hop on sushi clouds and thwart ninjas, they also get the opportunity to meet some of the biggest developers and game creators in the industry, including Tomohiro Nishikado, inventor of Space Invaders and Daigo "The Beast" Umehara, a professional gamer and Guinness World Records-holder for winning multiple championships.

The video game takes players through the 1980s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s. For each article read and video watched, players score extra points.
