Indonesia AirAsia Extra (IAX) will increase competition in the skies for travellers to Bali, announcing its inaugural route will be to fly between Melbourne and Denpasar from 26 December.

The airline will commence services with 5 weekly flights between Australia and Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, and goes on sale today with a special $99 fare one-way until 2 November, with business class flat bed seats also offered at discounted $499 one-way rates.

“Our launch will see capacity increase on this route grow by 28% and we’ll be providing about 22% of total available seats.” AirAsia X ceo Azran Osman-Rani said.

“With Thai AirAsia X already operating into north Asia we have Australia in our sights for further expansion and we all know how popular Bali is with Aussies.”
