Miri

The city became part of Malaysian territory located in the northern part of Sarawak on the island of Borneo and is the second largest city in Sarawak. In addition the city is also the administrative government center of Miri District. The city is the main entrance to the northern part of Sarawak and known as Oil City of Malaysia. Many interesting attractions located in the city, including the Mount Mulu, Niah, Lambir Hills and Loagan Bunut. All of them are national parks of international standards and make them as popular destinations for foreign tourists. There are many others interesting places you can visit in this city.

Things to see

One of the famous tourist attractions in the city is Niah National Park which is the site of archaeological and historical importance. Also in this place there are many wallet bird nests. Not far from Miri city center there is also Lambir Hills National Park located about 30 kilometers to the south of the city center of Miri. There are a variety of protected and rare flora and fauna that you can find and look here. Including Miri-Sibuti Coral Reef National Park is famous for its coral reefs and marine life. There is also the Tua Pek Kong Temple which was built in 1913 and is the oldest Chinese temple in the city.

For those of you who like adventure in the woods or down a cave, then a suitable place for your visit is Mount Mulu National Park which is the second highest mountain in Sarawak. This place also offers the beauty of natural scenery. Tanjong Lobang Beach is also one of the popular beaches for tourists. This beach is about ten minutes from downtown Miri. A Town lie adjacent to the sea does offer some of the beaches can be visited. Among them are Luak Esplanade Beach, Bungai Beach, Lutong Beach, Hawaii Beach and many others. The city is also one of the paradises for shopping. There are many shops, street markets to malls that can be found here, including the Permy Mall, Bintang Megamall, Boulevard Shopping Complex and others.

Things to eat

Nasi Lemak, a favorite food in Malaysia, still can be found here. This food is usually served with eggs, fried fish, cucumber and condiment. Besides Nasi Lemak, another favorite food is Nasi Kandar. This food is usually eaten for breakfast and served with sliced beef, fried chicken, egg, chili with extra splash of typical curry sauce. Roti Canai, made from wheat flour with additional curry chicken, also can be enjoyed here.
