Souvenirs which can give you trouble to bring

Vacation is so enjoying activity, especially when you have your vacation abroad. As you go home, there will be many souvenirs you’d like to bring back home to Indonesia. But you need to remember that our country, Indonesia, has strict regulation on certain things or souvenirs can be brought back to Indonesia. This regulation is stated on Fund Minister’s Law Number 188/PMK.04/2010 about imported things brought by passengers, courier crews, border and delivered packages. If you don’t want to get troubled and deal with Custom officers, it’s better for you to know things about the regulation may take effect on:

Number of Things

On the letter 9 on the Fund Minister reulation, it’s stated that certain things can easily pass through as long as they don’t reach the limit agreed. For example, 200 cigarettes maximum, 25 cigars maximum, 100 grams of mangrove maximum and 1 liter of liquor maximum. If you bring those things from abroad without passing the limit, it will never get you troubled and won’t need to pay extra money while checked by custom and airport officers.

Kinds of Things

On the 13th letter, it’s also stated that checking and taking out imported things brought by passengers are usually called as red line. It means that those things need to be on declared status. Things entering on red line are kinds of animals, fishes, plants and kinds of its product, drugs, weapons, sharp weapons, psychotropic drugs, armories, things or cash valued more than IDR 100 million, for example you can’t bring victorinox (souvenir typically from Swiss) freely. It needs to go through red line first and dealing with custom officer or you might don’t want to bring coca tea (tea originally from Andes Mountain). Though this kind of tea is freely sold and believed has various benefits, but this tea is containing cocain. As we know, cocain and psychotropic drugs are banned to be brought to enter this country.

            All things mentioned above need to be checked thoroughly with special procedure. It means that those things will surely get you troubled and may take your time while on vacation. If you don’t think bringing those things worths to get you troubled, it’s your choice to get them as your souvenirs or perhaps gifts. But if you’re in a hurry and exhausted, it’s better to get yourself other kinds of souvenir instead of bringing those things.
